The funny thing is, I never planned on owning a swimming pool…
Not that I had anything against them. But I didn’t grow up with a pool, and they always seemed like an unaffordable luxury to me. But about ten years ago, I bought a home that came with a swimming pool. Being the father of two small kids, I knew I had to learn about swimming pool maintenance and safety – fast!
So I asked two neighbors about it… and got two different sets of advice. Then I went to a couple of pool supply stores, and again got conflicting information.
I eventually sorted it out. But a couple years later, things really got complicated. Our family moved again, to a home without a pool. Well… once you’ve had one, there’s no going back. So installing a pool was top priority!
But what kind of pool? What design? What materials? What type of filtration system should I use? With one kid pleading for a slide and the other lobbying for a diving board… could I install both? Off I went in search of answers.
It was like deja vu all over again: different neighbors and different stores, different advice!
So I went online for answers. Naturally, there was lots of information. But it was all scattered and of questionable reliability. There wasn’t one good source I could turn to for advice.
It was then that I decided, I was going to build a website dedicated to helping pool owners deal with the countless pool-related issues. It was my goal to be that “one good source” I so desperately needed myself a few years ago.
It was a lot more work than I’d planned. But it was a labor of love, and I like to think I’ve succeeded. So take a look around. I hope you’ll find the answers you’re looking for.
